The double-bladed cavernotome is well known to promote a safe dilation of the corpora cavernosa without perforation of the tissue thanks to its design. Inded, it is to be used and moved in oscillatory motions to facilitate the insertion. The rotation of the double blades will create a "shaving" action which removes 1 mm strips of fibrotic tissue.
